Burn Wizard is an educational application designed for healthcare professionals, nursing students, and medical residents learning burn assessment techniques.
Educational Use Only: This application does not diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medications, or replace clinical decision-making. Always follow institutional protocols and clinical judgment for actual patient care.
Data Collection
Burn Wizard is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do NOT collect, store, or transmit:
- Personal information
- Patient data or Protected Health Information (PHI)
- Location data
- Device identifiers
- Usage analytics (unless explicitly opted in)
100% Offline: All calculations and data remain entirely on your device. No patient information is ever transmitted over the network.
Local Storage
The application may store the following data locally on your device:
- User preferences (theme, unit settings)
- Educational session data (temporary)
- App configuration settings
This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time through the app's Settings menu.
Security Features
Burn Wizard includes security features to protect your educational sessions:
- Biometric Authentication: Optional Face ID or fingerprint protection
- Privacy Screen: Content is hidden when the app is in the background
- Encrypted Storage: Local data is encrypted using platform-native secure storage
- No Network Transmission: All data remains on-device
Error Tracking (Optional)
If you choose to enable error reporting:
- Anonymous crash reports may be sent to help improve app stability
- Reports contain only technical information (error type, stack trace)
- No personal data, patient information, or clinical data is ever included
- Error tracking can be disabled at any time
Permissions
Permissions we request:
- Biometric authentication (optional, for app lock feature)
- Internet (for optional error reporting only)
Permissions we explicitly block:
- Camera
- Location
- Microphone
- External storage access
Third-Party Services
Burn Wizard does not share data with third parties. The only external service that may be used is:
- Sentry (optional): For anonymous error tracking to improve app stability. This service is HIPAA-compatible and configured to exclude any personal or clinical data.
Children's Privacy
Burn Wizard is intended for healthcare professionals and students of legal age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the application after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
